This program is my favorite! I have tried lots of different remote apps and programs over the years and this is the program I always come back to.

    1. Easy to install both on Linux and Windows box’s.
    2. No restrictions, you have full access to your OS.
    3. You can log in with out anybody having to be at the other end!
    4. Fast and just works
    5. 128-bit AES encryption
    6. Lets you print from any device your on
    7. File Transfer
    8. Cross-platform remote control

The only disadvantage is you have to configure your router so you can see your computer behind it on a specific port. (Like port 5900 which is the default port RealVNC uses)

The program is RealVNC and it was first developed by AT&T Lab’s decades ago and is still going strong.

All though it does cost you to first get, I feel it is well worth it.

The server part of RealVNC is what you have to purchase. Was $30 first time purchase then (now) $12 per year after that. That is for the Enterprise version, might be just a bit cheaper for the Personal version.

On your Android device it cost for the Viewer and it runs any where from $5 to $9.99. (depends if on sale in the app store)

The Viewer on your computers is free so you can install on your main box at the office or home and pay for the server then install the viewer on your laptop’s or other machines to access your RealVNC server.

The link to the website is: http://www.realvnc.com/

RealVNC also offers a Free version but is does not support 128-bit AES encryption so all your data is un-encrypted. You could setup SSH and then tunnel it to RealVNC but thats another topic.

Please let me know if you have any questions on this.

    Have Fun

If you use Chrome for your web browser then you install for Free (right now and don’t know later if they will charge for it later) is ” Chrome Remote Desktop ”

Works good but you do need somebody at the other end to give you an access code to log in.

You also (in Linux) are limited to general use. It gives you a hard time when you try to do Administrative things. The person on the other end has to keep giving you permission to do things.

Plus side you don’t have to configure your router. Works through your web browser port so the router does not block it.

Here are a couple of links for you to read up on it.
